Representation
Representation of your interests to the wider furnishing industry, the wider community and to State and Federal Governments.
Raise issues of common concern to the industry, such as the environment and participate in resolving them.
Industry Standards
Representation, (through the Executive) on the Board of Furntech-AFRDI, the industry standards/testing organisation. This input through Furntech ensures a direct influence on Standards Australia, which ensures the development of industry standards which are realistic and practical.
The CFIAA also holds regular meetings directly with senior representatives of Standards Australia to monitor progress of the various committees dealing with commercial furniture issues.
Networking
Talk with your associates in a collaborative, constructive environment about issues, concerns, opportunities.
Expand your network with numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth through interaction with manufacturers and suppliers.
Grow professionally, through regular seminars, workshops and conferences on important industry topics.
BUYSAFE
An opportunity to apply for membership of BUYSAFE. BUYSAFE is a comprehensive industry program developed by CFIAA to promote companies who meet industry standards and provide purchasers with the necessary assurances and support that is now commonly sought. BUYSAFE is recognised by the Federal Government’s Endorsed Supplier Arrangement (ESA) and membership eliminates the need to separately address much of the application for ESA status. The program encompasses a code of practice and assists in protecting those who observe legitimate business practices against unfair conduct by others.
Statistics
The industry has long been deprived of meaningful statistics relating to commercial furniture. Through funding from the Action Agenda work with the Australian Bureau of Statistics has been carried out and is ongoing to produce statistics on commercial furniture items. The results of surveys are provided free of charge to paid up members. Copies are available to non-members at $500 per copy.
After Care Labels
The Commercial Textile Association (CTA) represents the leading Australian textile manufacturers which any member using fabric in their production process will be very familiar with. The Association has developed a range of after care labels to be used with fabrics of all types produced by their members. Since manufacturers are required to provide after care fabric labelling the CFIAA has agreed with the CTA to act as a distribution point for the labels and a substantial discount on their cost has been agreed for CFIAA members.
